Prof. Dame Julia King, Vice Chancellor of Aston University, visited SYSU

On the afternoon of May 27, Prof. Dame Julia King, Vice Chancellor of Aston University, and Ms. Wendy Yip, Director of International Development, Aston University, visited SYSU. President Xu Ningsheng met with the guests, accompanied by Prof. Ling Wenhua, Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

President Xu Ningsheng extended a warm welcome to Prof. Dame Julia King and introduced the basic situation of SYSU. He said that SYSU has kept close cooperative relations with universities in the UK. Guangzhou and Birmingham are sister cities. He hoped that SYSU in Guangzhou and Aston University in Birmingham would have more extensive and in-depth cooperation.

Prof. Dame Julia King introduced the general situation of Aston University and told President Xu Ningsheng about her visit to some schools and departments at SYSU. She said that through initial communication and meeting, the two sides enhanced understanding. She also expressed the hope to conduct collaborations with SYSU as soon as possible.

Prof. Dame Julia King also visited State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Physics & Engineering, Lingnan College, Department of Psychology, The First Affiliated Hospital and Zhongshang Ophthalmic Center at SYSU.

Founded in 1895, Aston University is a long established research-led university in the UK. It has four Schools of Study: Aston Business School, School of Engineering & Applied Science, School of Languages and Social Sciences, and School of Life and Health Sciences.
