Peking University President Wang Enge visited National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou

On the morning of May 29, Prof. Wang Enge, President of Peking University, visited National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou (NSCC-GZ) on East Campus of SYSU, accompanied by Prof. Li Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU and Prof. Yuan Xuefeng, Director of NSCC-GZ.

During the meeting, Vice President Li Mengfeng introduced SYSU’s history, development, disciplines and current work in supercomputing. President Wang Enge introduced the disciplines closely related to supercomputing in PKU’s School of Life Sciences, School of Physics, College of Engineering, etc. The two sides reached the consensus to conduct more cooperation and exchange in the fields related to supercomputing applications including earth science, physics, biology and medicine on the basis of Tianhe-2, the major platform for basic science and technology.
President Wang Enge also visited Tianhe-2 High Performance Computer System and learned about typical applications of supercomputing in earthquake simulation, drug screening, risk measurement, engineering simulation, and etc.
