SYSU team won grand prize at the 5th National Medical College Students Clinical Skills Competition Final

After the two-day competition, the 5th National Medical College Students Clinical Skills Competition Final drew its curtain on South Campus of SYSU on May 25, 2014. The Final set up three grand prizes, five first prizes, twelve second prizes and twenty-one third prizes. Sun Yat-sen University, Central South University and Dalian Medical University were awarded the grand prize respectively. SYSU team won the champion with the highest score for the fourth time in a row.
Attendees of the closing ceremony of the Final included Wang Qiming, Director of Office of Agriculture, Forestry and Pharmacy, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education; Gao Bin, Deputy Director of Office of Agriculture, Forestry and Pharmacy, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education; Chi Baorong, Head of Judges of the Competition; He Qingnan, Tang Xiaodong and Liang Lijian, Deputy Heads of Judges of the Competition; Pan Hui, Zhang Siqin, Jiang Guanchao, Chen Jiangtian, Wu Yan, Zeng Chaomei and Liang Shujing, Supervisors of the Competition; Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, and General Director of the Competition; Li Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU; Xiao Haipeng, Dean of Medical Education of SYSU and Deputy General Director of the Competition. About 500 tutors, contestants, judges, teachers and students attended the closing ceremony.

On behalf of SYSU, Vice President Li Mengfeng thanked Clinical Teaching and Research Center for Medical Education of Ministry of Education, and Clinical Teaching Steering Subcommittee of Ministry of Education for the trust and support. He also thanked everyone for their participation in and contribution to the Competition.

Head of Judges Chi Baorong announced the results of the Final. The tutors and contestants came to the stage in turn to receive their awards. Director Wang Qiming, Head of Judges Chi Baorong, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng presented the award to grand prize winners respectively.
After the closing ceremony, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng, Vice President Li Mengfeng, and Dean Xiao Haipeng held a brief meeting with the tutors and contestants of SYSU team, staff members of Dean’s Office of Medical Education Affairs, as well as teachers and medical students.
Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng read the congratulating text message from President Xu Ningsheng. President Xu Ningsheng sent congratulations to SYSU team, expressed gratitude to staff members of various departments, and said that he was proud of our medical students. Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng praised the medical students for their spirit of offering services and helping each other, and their love for medical sciences. He thanked the volunteers, especially students of the 8-year clinical program, for their great efforts.
Vice President Li Mengfeng thanked the faculty, staff and medical students who made contributions to the Competition, and praised the contestants for the outstanding qualities displayed in the Competition. He emphasized that all the achievements by SYSU teams in the annual Competition were glory for all at SYSU.
Tu Jian, Captain of the SYSU team, expressed gratitude to the university leadership for their care and support, and thanked the tutors and instructors for their tremendous efforts, and hoped that the medical education at SYSU would make new achievements.
