On the afternoon of April 28, Yan Junqi, Chairwoman of the Central Committee of the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) and Vice Chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), came to SYSU and visited East Campus Library, National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou and State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies, accompanied by Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee; Chen Wangnan, Director of President’s Office of SYSU; and Huang Shan, Director of East Campus Administration of SYSU.

On the fifth floor of East Campus Library, Yan Junqi visited The Hilles Collection. She listened carefully to the introduction and learned about the development and collections of Sun Yat-sen University Libraries.
Yan Junqi viewed the achievement exhibition of SYSU’s 90th anniversary, and learned about SYSU’s achievements in disciplinary construction, talent cultivation and scientific research from the aspects of humanities, social sciences, mathematics, physics, chemistry, material physics and chemistry, life sciences and medical sciences. Yuan Xuefeng, Director of National Supercomputing Center in Guangzhou, introduced the applications and users of Tianhe-2. Yan Junqi inquired about the running conditions of Tianhe-2, and emphasized the fusion of supercomputing and big data as well as the development of application software and application service.

At the State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies, Yan Junqi watched the exhibition board, listened to the introduction of latest research developments and patent achievements, and visited the lab. She affirmed the achievements of scientists and encouraged them to make more efforts to transform research findings into productivity.
