A Delegation led by Pro-Chancellor of Wawasan Open University visited SYSU

On the afternoon of April 1, Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon, Pro-Chancellor of Wawasan Open University, Dato’ Seri Yeap Leong Huat, Chairman of Board of Directors of WOU Sdn Bhd, and Prof. Dato’ Dr Ho Sinn Chye, Vice-Chancellor of WOU, visited SYSU. Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests. Prof. Tan Chee-Beng from School of Sociology and Anthropology, Associate Professor Duan Ying from School of Sociology and Anthropology, and Ms. Wu Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, attended the meeting.

During the meeting, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng, introduced SYSU’s history and disciplinary development, especially the development of School of Continuing Education (School of Online Education). The three guests expressed their wish to discuss possible cooperation with SYSU in the fields of Southeast Asia Studies and network education.

After the meeting, Professor Yuan Ding, Professor Tan Chee-Beng, Associate Professor Zhang Zuxing and Associate Professor Duan Ying had a talk with the guests and introduced the current situation of Southeast Asia Studies in China.

On the morning of April 2, the delegation visited School of Continuing Education (School of Online Education). Dean Xie Fukang, Deputy Deans Liu Mengzhi and Liu Zhengsheng, Assistant Deans Zeng Xiangyue and Zhu Hua met with the guests. The two sides had in-depth discussion on network education management and short-term training, and reached a preliminary intent for cooperation.

Wawasan Open University is a private university in Malaysia focusing on network education. It consists of School of Science and Technology; School of Education, Language and Communications; School of Business and Administration; School of Foundation and Liberal Studies; Centre for Graduate Studies; Career Development and Continuing Education Centre.
