A delegation from Seoul National University visited SYSU

On the morning of December 23, 2013, a delegation led by Prof. Daehee Kang, Dean of Seoul National University College of Medicine (SNUCM), and Prof. Jong-Ho Jeong, Dean of International Affairs and Professor of Graduate School of International Studies of Seoul National University (SNU), visited SYSU. Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests. Prof. Liu Zhiwei, Executive Vice Dean of School of Asia-Pacific Studies, Prof. Chen Qiongzhu, Vice Dean of Zhongshan School of Medicine, Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, Associate Professor Zhang Guangnan, Assistant Director of Centre for Studies of Hong Kong, Macao and Pearl River Delta of SYSU attended the meeting.

Vice President Zhu Xiping extended his warm welcome to the guests and briefly introduced SYSU’s history and international cooperation, especially achievements in internationalization of medical education. 

Dean Jong-Ho Jeong and Dean Daehee Kang introduced SNU and SNUCM respectively. The two sides reached initial consensus on collaborations in medical sciences and area studies.

During the visit, Zhongshan School of Medicine signed a MOU and student exchange agreement with SNUCM. The delegates also discussed cooperative plans with representatives from Zhongshan School of Medicine, School of Asia-Pacific Studies, and Center for Studies of Hong Kong, Macao and Pearl River Delta.

Seoul National University (SNU) is the first national university in the Republic of Korea with strengths in engineering, humanities and medical sciences. It ranks 35th in the world in the QS World University Rankings 2013-2014. This is its first university level visit to SYSU. The two universities signed a cooperation framework agreement and student exchange agreement in June this year, and established comprehensive cooperation relations.
