Vice President Zhu Xiping reviewed the construction and development of IARC in the past thirty years and affirmed its leap-forward development and achievements in providing technical services, sharing large scale instruments, innovating instrumental technologies, ensuring the quality of testing data, cultivating technological talents and offering social services.
A series of academic events held to celebrate the 30th Anniversary of IARC
On December 10-11, the “2013 National Conference on Application of Biological Mass Spectrometery and Symposium on Its Frontier Technology” was held at SYSU. More than one hundred representatives from 32 universities and 10 inspection and research institutes attended the conference. 15 academic lectures in 2 parallel sessions attracted faculty and students from School of Physics & Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Zhongshan School of Medicine, School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and School of Life Sciences.
On December 11-13, IARC invited renowned experts to give lectures on “How effective is your current corrosion monitoring, prevention and control systems?”, "X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis technology and spectrum analysis method", and “Microstructure investigation on ferric-nanomaterials by EELS”.
Founded in December 1983, IARC is one of the analysis and testing centers in twelve universities approved by the former State Education Commission. Initially, IARC had 22 large scale sophisticated instruments worth over 2 million US dollars bought with a loan from the World Bank. Through thirty years of construction and development, and with the support and investment of SYSU, IARC now has instruments worth over 100 million yuan to support basic research in substance sciences and many disciplines such as physics, chemistry, biology, environment, geology, pharmacology, medicine, cultural relics testing, etc.
