On the afternoon of November 28, the delegation led by Prof. Jose Angel Hermida, Rector of University of Leon (ULE), visited SYSU. The delegates included Prof. Humildad Rodriguez Otero, Director of Foundation ULE-Corporate Sector, Prof. Angela Pilar Calle, Dean of School of Communication and Director of the Rector’s Office, and Prof. Mario Diaz, Director of International Planning and Promotion. Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the delegates. Prof. Chang Chenguang, Dean of School of Foreign Languages, Prof. Hao Yuantao, Dean of School of Public Health, Prof. Xie Wen, Dean of School of Nursing, Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, Ms. Zhang Zhongli, Chair of Department of Spanish of School of International Studies, and Associate Professor Zhang Jun’e from School of Nursing attended the meeting.
Vice President Zhu Xiping meeting with Rector Jose Angel Hermida
Vice President Zhu Xiping extended his warm welcome to Rector Jose Angel Hermida and introduced SYSU’s basic situation. He pointed out that SYSU has good traditions in the fields of humanities, social sciences, medical education and research, and hoped to have cooperation and exchange in related disciplines with ULE.
Rector Jose Angel Hermida introduced the general situation of ULE, especially its international cooperation. He emphasized that ULE, located in the core area of northwest Spain, has great advantages in veterinary science, environmental science and bioscience, and its Spanish language teaching level ranks first in Spain.
After the meeting, the ULE delegation had a discussion with representatives from School of Foreign Languages, School of Public Health and School of Nursing. The two sides discussed the possibility of cooperation.
SYSU and ULE signed a cooperation agreement in 2010 and have carried out substantive cooperation and exchange under this framework. Currently, the collaborations are mainly in the School of International Studies including summer school program, student exchange and faculty visits.
