Vice President of University of Munich Hans van Ess visited SYSU

On the afternoon of November 22, Prof. Hans van Ess, Vice President of University of Munich, visited SYSU. Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests. Prof. Song Junhua, Executive Deputy Director of China Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Centre, Prof. Wang Xiaobing and Ms. Wu Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, attended the meeting.

Vice President Zhu Xiping extended his warmest welcome to Vice President Hans van Ess’ first visit and introduced SYSU’s history, campus construction, disciplinary development, affiliated hospitals, especially international cooperation and exchange. He pointed out that SYSU has been under rapid development in recent years and is stepping forward towards a world-class university.

Vice President Hans van Ess introduced the basic situation of University of Munich. He emphasized that University of Munich, the same as SYSU, has a long history with focuses on scientific research and international cooperation. It became one of the three “Elite-Uni”s approved by German government and has outstanding advantages in the fields of medicine, physics, arts and humanities.

During the meeting, both sides expressed their wishes to establish the relations of friendship and cooperation.

The 2nd Sino-German Forum on Chinese Cultural Studies hosted by China Intangible Cultural Heritage Research Centre was held at SYSU on November 22-24. Vice President of University of Munich Hans van Ess attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech on “German Sinology and the Research Traditions of Munich”.
