On the afternoon of November 9, Ms. Annika Annerby Jansson, President of Regional Council, Skåne CPMR General Assembly, Sweden, visited SYSU, accompanied by Mr. Per-Olof Persson, Senior Advisor International Relations, Regional Head Office, Skåne, Sweden, Ms. Ma Yue, Deputy Director of International Relations Division, Foreign Affairs Office of People’s Government of Guangdong Province (GDFAO), and Ms. Wu Yali of GDFAO. Prof. Yan Guangmei, Vice President of SYSU met with the delegation. Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU attended the meeting.

Vice President Yan Guangmei extended his warm welcome to President Annika Annerby Jansson and introduced the basic situation of SYSU, with emphasis on international cooperation and exchange, especially with Swedish universities. He pointed out that like Swedish universities, SYSU attaches importance to academic research and innovation, and receives strong support from the government with regard to the funding of teaching and research in recent years.

President Annika Annerby Jansson introduced higher education in Skåne, Sweden, especially the basic situation of Lund University. She said that as a leading university in Skåne, Lund University puts emphasis on international cooperation and exchange, and maintains long-term and close collaborations with enterprises.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed higher education system in China and Sweden as well as university development.

Guangdong and Skåne established friendly provincial relations in 1997. The two provinces have conducted various forms of cooperation and exchange and made fruitful achievements in the fields of regional assembly, economy and trade, education, culture, environmental protection, medicine and health. At the invitation of Guangdong, Ms. Annika Annerby Jansson, President of Regional Council of Skåne CPMR General Assembly of Sweden, paid a friendly visit to Guangdong on November 7-11 and attended Guangdong International Tourism and Culture Festival.
