Mr. Friis Arne Petersen, Ambassador of Denmark to China, visited SYSU

On the afternoon of November 8, 2013, Mr. Friis Arne Petersen, Ambassador of Denmark to China visited SYSU, accompanied by representatives of Royal Danish Consulate General Guangzhou. Prof. Yan Guangmei, Vice President of SYSU met with the delegation. Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU, also attended the meeting.

Vice President Yan Guangmei extended his warm welcome to Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen and reviewed SYSU’s cooperation with Danish universities. He pointed out that since 2002 SYSU has maintained good cooperation relations with Danish universities and we hope to further strengthen collaborations between the two sides.

Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen expressed his full support for such collaborations and hoped the two sides would cooperate at wider and deeper levels. Moreover, he discussed Chinese economic development strategy and sustainable development with Vice President Yan Guangmei.

After the meeting, Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen delivered a speech on “Danish-Chinese Cooperation” and held a meeting with SYSU professors to discuss economic, political and cultural issues in China.

Ambassador Friis Arne Petersen has been awarded Commander of First Class of the Order of Dannebrog and Greenlandic Order of Merit (Gold) as well as Grand Crosses of Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Egypt, Finland, Germany, Japan, Jordan, Luxembourg, Romania, United Kingdom (GCMG), and Thailand. Since 2010 he has served as Ambassador of Denmark to the People’s Republic of China and Mongolia.
