On the morning of October 23, Mr. Alireza Salarian, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Guangzhou, visited SYSU with a delegation of 3 representatives. Professor Xu Ningsheng, President of SYSU, met with the guests, accompanied by Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU.
President Xu Ningsheng extended his warm welcome to Consul General Alireza Salarian, and introduced the history and disciplines of SYSU, especially the disciplinary layout of the School of International Studies at SYSU. He hoped that the Consul General will bridge the cooperation between SYSU and Iranian universities.

Consul General Alireza Salarian introduced the Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Guangzhou. He expressed that academic exchange is an important part of the cultural exchange between the two countries. He promised to fully support collaborations between Iranian universities and SYSU, and he also put forward concrete proposals of cooperation.

The Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Guangzhou was officially set up on December 23, 2011. This is his first time to visit SYSU since Consul General Alireza Salarian took office.
