Pro-Vice-Chancellor of University of Warwick visited SYSU

On the afternoon of October 17, Prof. Lawrence Young, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research of the University of Warwick, visited SYSU, accompanied by Ms. Wynne Kam, Director of Operations of University of Warwick (Hong Kong Office), and Ms. Michelle Lei from Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City. Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the delegates. Prof. Wen Wushao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU, attended the meeting.

Vice President Zhu Xiping extended a warm welcome to Pro-Vice-Chancellor Lawrence Young and introduced the basic situation of SYSU. He said that SYSU kept close relations and frequent academic exchanges with universities in the UK and hoped to start cooperation and exchange with the University of Warwick on such a good basis.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Lawrence Young introduced the University of Warwick in general and its international cooperation in particular. He stressed that the University of Warwick is a young and dynamic university with a flexible and open policy to encourage academic freedom, and an established academic reputation in the UK and the world. He also expressed the wish to collaborate with SYSU as soon as possible.

During the meeting, the two sides held preliminary discussions on possible fields of cooperation and collaborations in the project of Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City.
