Secretary Hu Chunhua visits Sun Yat-sen University ahead of Teachers' Day

On the morning of September 6, four days before the 29th Teachers' Day, Hu Chunhua, Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, visited Sun Yat-sen University. Secretary Hu Chunhua paid a visit to Academician Chen Xiaoming, Professor Sang Bing, Professor Cheng Meibao and Professor Xia Shuzhang, and conveyed greetings to the teachers and educators working in SYSU and Guangdong Province. Lin Musheng, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and secretary-general of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee; Chen Yunxian, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province; Liu Kewei, deputy secretary-general of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee; Jiang Haiyan, deputy secretary-general of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province; Luo Weiqi, director-general of the Department of Education of Guangdong Province; Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee; and Xu Ningsheng, President of SYSU, accompanied Secretary Hu Chunhua in the visit.

Secretary Hu Chunhua first came to Fengsheng Hall to visit Chen Xiaoming, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Professor of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. He visited the chemistry lab and learned about the work of Academician Chen Xiaoming and his research team. He encouraged SYSU to cultivate young teachers, reserve excellent talents and keep vitality and competitiveness in scientific research. In the Department of History, Secretary Hu Chunhua talked with Professor Sang Bing and Professor Cheng Meibao, learned about their academic research and the development of the humanities and social sciences at SYSU, and visited a display of the academic achievements of teachers in the Department of History. Finally, Secretary Hu Chunhua came to visit Professor Xia Shuzhang of the School of Government at his home. Secretary Hu Chunhua discussed the research in public administration with Professor Xia Shuzhang, and wished him good health and a long life. Professor Xia Shuzhang presented his works including Public Administration to Secretary Hu Chunhua.

Sun Yat-sen University also presented a batch of representative works by SYSU researchers in the field of humanities and social sciences to Secretary Hu Chunhua.
