To promote nationwide fitness programs, enhance the physical condition of faculty and staff, strengthen mutual exchanges and enrich cultural life, the 2013 SYSU faculty basketball game, hosted by SYSU Labor Union and organized by School of Education, was held from May 11 to 26. A total of 33 secondary labor union organizations participated in the game with 12 women's teams and 31 men's teams. The competition was divided into two stages, the first stage was preliminaries among South, North and Zhuhai campuses, and in the second stage, the ranking was decided by cross-knockout. After three weeks of intense competition, the winners of the top eight were finally decided.
Game highlight
There was a special match between medical professors and professors of the humanities, science and engineering on the last day of the game. Experts and professors from various fields were competing vigorously and freely, fully reflecting the physical fitness, dynamism and high morale of educational and scientific researchers at SYSU.
Executive vice chairman of SYSU Labor Union Zhou Yun, Director of Physical Education Department Chen Zhuoyuan, Vice Presidents of SYSU Labor Union Li Ye and Xu Cuifeng presented certificates and prizes to the top eight teams. The competition has provided an opportunity for faculty and staff to relax and exercise, which has enhanced collective cohesion. All participants have performed well and displayed friendship.
