A Delegation from UTS visits SYSU

On May 9, Professor Attila Brungs, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Research) at University of Technology, Sydney (UTS); Professor John Daly, Dean of Faculty of Health; Jeffery Francis, Director of UTS Research and Innovation Office; and Leo Mian Liu, Director of International Engagement, visited SYSU.

Yan Guangmei, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests, accompanied by Ling Wenhua, Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange; Jiang Qing, Dean of School of Engineering; Xie Wen, Dean of School of Nursing; and Zhang Meifen, Deputy Dean of School of Nursing. Both sides discussed cooperation in student exchange, faculty visit, joint doctoral degree/master’s degree program and joint construction of research centers. Both sides hope to implement substantial cooperation after the signing of Key Technology Partnership Agreement in April.

The delegation led by Vice-President Attila Brungs also visited the School of Engineering, the School of Nursing and The First Affiliated Hospital, had discussions with relevant leaders including Yu Xueqing, Deputy President of The First Affiliated Hospital, professors and teachers, and exchanged opinions on research collaborations, joint degree programs, student and faculty exchanges, and joint research centers.

UTS was founded in 1843. It originated from Sydney Mechanics’ School of Arts and was officially renamed the University of Technology Sydney in 1987. At present, UTS is a top ranking comprehensive university with strengths in business, law, education, science and technology. UTS is rated as a Five Star University by QS. In April, 2013, SYSU and UTS signed the framework agreement of dual doctoral degree program and the student exchange program agreement.
