On the morning of April 26, Professor Victor Millet, Vice President for International Relations of University of Santiago de Compostela (USC), visited SYSU. Professor Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in the VIP Lounge of Zhongshan Building.
Vice President Wei Minghai extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced the general situation of SYSU and its international cooperation projects. He hoped that both sides could use their experience in international cooperation and their advantages as comprehensive universities to develop more collaboration models and expand the fields and levels of cooperation between the two universities on the basis of existing collaborations. Vice President Victor Millet agreed with Vice President Wei Minghai’s proposal and hoped to strengthen collaborations through this visit and to explore more possibilities of cooperation.
The two sides discussed possible fields and ways of cooperation and reached a consensus on further strengthening student and scholar exchange, and considering student exchange in medical sciences and joint cultivation programs.
Zhang Zhongli, Head of Department of Spanish Language, School of International Studies, and Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange were also present at the meeting.

Established in 1495, the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC) is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Europe. It was awarded International Campus of Excellence by the Ministry of Education in Spain. The colleges of USC are distributed in two famous ancient cities, Santiago de Compostela and Lugo. USC is a comprehensive university covering arts, humanities, law, social sciences, life sciences, medicine, sciences, engineering and construction, etc. In the 2011-2012 school year, the number of students is about 30,000. In 2010, Sun Yat-sen University signed a collaboration agreement with USC. At present, the School of International Studies of SYSU has student exchange program with USC.
