On the morning of April 22, Professor Simon Evans, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) of the University of Melbourne, visited SYSU. Professor Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in the VIP Lounge of Zhongshan Building. Mr. Chua Ah Leng, Senior VP of Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment and Development Co., Ltd, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, also attended the meeting.

Vice President Wei Minghai cordially welcomed the guests and briefly introduced SYSU, especially its main modes and achievements of international cooperation at the present stage. Pro Vice-Chancellor Simon Evans introduced the disciplines of the University of Melbourne. The two sides then discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the fields of engineering, medicine and social sciences, research collaboration in energy through the platform of Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City, and reached intent of cooperation in joint cultivation program.
Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is the oldest university in Victoria and the second oldest university in Australia. It is a member of the Group of Eight Australian Universities, a founding member of Universitas 21, a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), as well as a member of the Pacific Asian Consortium for International Business Education and Research (PACIBER).
