Since SYSU signed a collaboration agreement on clinical and translational research with Johns Hopkins University on March 4, the joint project team has been working closely to advance the collaboration. Professor Adrian Dobs, Vice-Chair, Department of Medicine, Faculty Development, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, led a 7-member delegation to visit SYSU on April 21, and held the first “Strategic Planning Meeting between SYSU & JHM” with SYSU experts on North Campus. Li Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU, attended the meeting and participated in the discussions and summary meeting.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed the current organizational structure, members and responsibilities, project status, education and training, clinical research, and needs assessment of the joint project. On April 22, the experts interviewed 36 candidates for training in JHM.
On the morning of April 23, Professor Adrian Dobs, Professor David Friedman and Professor Edgar Miller held a Townhall Meeting in the Conference Room of Wing Sang Building, presenting a detailed introduction to the joint project and its future and answering questions raised by SYSU faculty and staff. At noon on April 23, the two sides discussed the next steps, schedule and focus of work. This meeting provides strategic guidance for further implementation of the joint project between SYSU and JHM.

SYSU signed the collaboration agreement with Johns Hopkins University in March, joining hands to establish a high-end collaboration platform for clinical research and translational medicine. The plan is to build a long term collaboration partnership in the field of clinical and translational research, work together to cultivate China's next generation clinical and translational investigators with international perspectives through conducting joint research projects and imparting knowledge, and set up the SYSU center for clinical and translational research in collaboration with JHM.
