SYSU held Commendation Meeting of Excellent Students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan & Inaugural Meeting of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students Association

On March 28th, the Sun Yat-sen University Commendation Meeting of Excellent Students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan & the Inaugural Meeting of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students Association was held in Swasey Hall. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, persons in charge of relevant functional departments, deputy secretaries and instructors of the schools and departments, and representatives of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students who have won the 2011-2012 scholarship, a total of more than 200 people attended the meeting.

Deputy Secretary Li Ping expressed that SYSU is proud of so many excellent students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. The University leaders and teachers have shown love and concern for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students and have been active in creating positive conditions for their growth and development. She encouraged them to keep on studying, thinking and practicing, to combine personal dreams with national ideals and dedication to the country, and to become a responsible SYSU student.

As student representatives, Zeng Lingchao, an undergraduate from School of International Studies, and Xie Xi, a postgraduate from School of Law, expressed their sincere thanks to the University and the teachers. From the perspective of the combination of personal ideals and national ideals, they explained what students can do to improve themselves and serve the country.

In order to enhance mutual communication, help Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students solve problems in their life and study, and strengthen interactions among the four campuses, the University has decided to establish the Sun Yat-sen University Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students Association to provide a platform for exchange and friendship. At the meeting, together with the student representatives, Deputy Secretary Li Ping unveiled the plaque of Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students Association.
