On the morning of December 18, Mr. Bruno Bisson, Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of France in Guangzhou, gave a lecture entitled "Romantisme: mythes et réalités (Romanticism: myth and reality)” to the faculty and students of French Department, School of Foreign Languages, Sun Yat-sen University.
Mr. Bisson had a fine sense of humor. When he entered the lecture hall, he greeted the audience in standard mandarin, closing the distance between him and the students and starting a special and interesting lecture.
The form of this lecture differed from those of the previous ones. The audience became participants and everyone had the chance to express their own opinions, which activated the atmosphere on the scene. Mr. Bisson asked several questions such as “what do you think is Romanticism”, "Do you think you are a romantic person”, "why do most Chinese regard France as a romantic country”, and got positive responses. Through the lecture the teachers and students in French Department had a deeper and more systematic understanding of romanticism. The lecture helped broadening the students’ horizons and opening their minds.
Before the lecture, Vice President Yan Guangmei had a friendly talk with Mr. Bisson on behalf of Sun Yat-sen University. Mr. Christophe Bonté, Attaché of Science and Higher Education Cooperation of the Consulate General of the Republic of France in Guangzhou, and Xu Yao, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange accompanied them at the talk.
