On November 14th, President Xu Ningsheng met with Professor Roger D. Kornberg from Stanford University, US, who is leading the "New Anti-cancer Targeted Drugs R&D Team”, a Guangdong provincial introduced innovative R&D team at SYSU, and its key members including Professor Young-Joon Kim (Yonsei University, Korea), Professor Lin-Woo Kang (Konkuk University, Korea), Associate Professor Yuichiro Takagi (Indiana University, US), Professor WANG Zhong (SYSU) and Professor LI Qing (SYSU). Vice President Li Mengfeng, Vice President Xu Anlong, and persons in charge of relevant functional departments were also present at the meeting.

President Xu Ningsheng welcomed the arrival of Kornberg innovation team on behalf of the University, appreciated Professor Kornberg’s efforts in the construction of the innovation team, and hoped that the team can grasp the favorable opportunity of the rapid development in Guangzhou and its surrounding areas and conduct its work actively. President Xu Ningsheng promised that SYSU would provide full support and hoped that the team would achieve good results in targeted drugs R&D and transformation. Professor Kornberg expressed gratitude to SYSU and President Xu Ningsheng for his support.
President Xu Ningsheng and Professor Kornberg had an in-depth discussion on team construction, targeted medicine development, industrialization of medicine, and cooperation within the university and with other universities.
