2012 SYSU Kwang-Hua Education Scholarship Award Ceremony Held in SYSU

On the afternoon of October 30, the 2012 SYSU Kwang-Hua Education Scholarship Award Ceremony was held in Swasey Hall on South Campus. Mr. Zeng Mengda, representative of Kwang-Hua Education Foundation, Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, and persons in charge of relevant functional departments attended the award ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by Qi Xiaoping, Director of Student Affairs Office of SYSU.

Deputy Secretary Li Ping first expressed sincere gratitude to Kwang-Hua Education Foundation on behalf of SYSU and hearty congratulations to the award-winning students. She said that it has been 22 years since Kwang-Hua Scholarship was set up in SYSU in 1990 and the foundation encourages students to study hard and become useful citizens, which coincides with the idea of "dedication to students, teaching and academic research” put forward by SYSU in the new era. She hoped that the students would regard the award as a motivation to make unremitting efforts, always remember Mr. Sun Yat-sen’s percept: “Aspire to do great things” and improve themselves to become pillars of society and repay the motherland and the people. 

Mr. Zeng Dameng reviewed the development of Kwang-Hua Scholarship since its establishment. He hoped that every award-winning student would build a career through diligent study and develop the spirit of helping others of Kwang-Hua Scholarship and give back to society.
  
It is learned that there are 74 students winning Kwang-Hua Scholarship this year, including 25 doctoral candidates, 34 master’s degree students and 15 undergraduates. The winning rate for minority students is 24.32%.
