On the morning of October 19th, a 7-member delegation headed by Peter Coaldrake, Vice-Chancellor of Queensland University of Technology (QUT), and Scott Sheppard, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International and Development of QUT, paid a visit to SYSU. President Xu Ningsheng and Vice President Yan Guangmei met the delegation in the VIP Lounge of Zhongshan Building. Xiao Haipeng, Director of Dean’s office of Medical Education Affairs, Deputy Dean of Zhongshan School of Medicine and Deputy President of The First Affiliated Hospital, Hao Yuantao, Party Secretary and Deputy Dean of School of Public Health, Wang Xi, Deputy Dean of Lingnan College, Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange attended the meeting.

President Xu Ningsheng expressed a warm welcome to the delegation and gave a brief introduction to SYSU and the general information of international cooperation and exchange. President Xu Ningsheng said that the colleges and universities in Australia are very attractive to Chinese students, and he expressed the hope to strengthen the close ties between the two universities and promote cooperation and exchange.
Peter Coaldrake gave a brief introduction to QUT and its preponderant disciplines. He invited the delegation of SYSU to visit QUT so as to deepen the understanding and mutual trust between the two sides. Additionally, the two sides had a group discussion about collaboration in the fields of medical sciences and economics, and actively discussed issues on research collaboration, student exchange program, joint student training program and etc.
It was the first time for Peter Coaldrake, Vice-Chancellor of QUT, to visit SYSU. In May this year, a 3-member team headed by Scott Sheppard, Deputy Vice-Chancellor for International and Development of QUT, visited SYSU.
