On the morning of October 15, a 3-membered delegation headed by Professor Mohamed Dabaon, Vice President of Tanta University, Egypt, visited Sun Yat-sen University. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in the VIP Lounge of Zhongshan Building. The two sides gave a brief introduction to their universities and exchanged souvenirs. Professor Wang Bin, Executive and Academic Director of School of International Studies, Professor Ma Yanzhe, Head of the Arabic Department, and Xu Yao, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, attended the meeting.

By far, the School of International Studies of SYSU and the Faculty of Arts of Tanta University have agreed on the intention to develop student exchange programs. Through this visit, the two sides discussed about the details of their cooperation and signed a cooperative agreement on student exchanges.
Tanta University was formerly Alexandria Faculty of Medicine in Tanta set up in 1962. It was officially founded in 1972 and was renamed as Tanta University later in 1973. After Cairo University, it is the fifth university under the direct scientific supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Egypt. Today Tanta University has 150,000 students. Among them, over 20,000 students are graduate students and over 100 are Chinese overseas students.
