The anti-Philippines march aiming to defend Huangyan Island, which was initiated by young students in Hong Kong from Sun Yat-sen University Alumni Association, was held on the 20th in Hong Kong Central District. The march was strongly supported by the Council of the Association and attracted more than 100 alumni. They marched from Statue Square to Philippine Consulate General in Hong Kong Unity Center to protest against Philippines’ provocative acts in the South China Sea and express all Chinese compatriots’ firm determination to defend Huangyan Island.

High temperature did not affect their morale. Conversely, driven by patriotism and indignation, the participants held the banners and Huangyan Island Map while shouted slogans along the way. The group representative read the demonstration declaration before the alumni sang the national anthem. Honorary President of the Alumni Association Lun Zhiyan and President Xie Jiongquan delivered the protest letter to the representative of Philippine Consulate. The organizers hoped to spread Chinese people’s firm faith of defending Huangyan Island to Philippines and international community through this event. They also demanded that Philippine Government recognize the historical facts and stop violating our territorial sovereignty.
