SYSU Signs the Memorandum of Understanding with University of Birmingham

On the morning of April 16, the Signing Ceremony of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between University of Birmingham (UOB) and SYSU was held in the VIP Room of Zhongshan Building. On behalf of their own universities, Vice President Wei Minghai and President David Eastwood of UOB signed MOU.

The two sides confirmed some cooperation principles in MOU. Based on former cooperation, they planned to further develop cooperation in multiple fields, and draw up an official cooperation agreement based on these principles.
Before the signing ceremony, Vice President Wei Minghai received the delegation of 7 people led by President David Eastwood. The two sides enthusiastically discussed the potential cooperation areas and their ways, deciding to expand the cooperation areas to medical sciences, environmental science, economy, and management, and to actively cooperate to participate in government projects of Guangdong or Guangzhou. Meanwhile, they would drum up fund support from China and Britain. Besides, the two sides affirmed to cooperate concretely via joint-built research center joint training of students, scientific research cooperation, scholar communication, and student exchanges, which would be promoted and implemented by visits of other delegations in the near future.
Participants who received the delegation and attended the signing ceremony included Dean of School of Public Health Ling Wenhua, Associate Dean of Zhongshan School of Medicine Wu Zhongdao, Associate Dean of Lingnan (University) College Zhang Yanmei, Professor of Zhongshan School of Medicine Guan Yongyuan, and ICEO Vice Director Zhang Qi.
