【China News Net】17 Universities in Guangdong Plan to Recruit 500 Exam-exempted Hong Kong Students

China News Service reported on Dec 14, Guangzhou 17 comprehensive universities in Guangdong including Sun Yat-sen University and Jinan University will recruit exam-exempted Hong Kong students. After visiting several universities on December 14, the reporter got the message that each university would recruit 30 to 40 exam-exempted Hong Kong students while 500 were estimated to apply for Guangdong universities. The admission results would be announced next August.
Officer in the Admission Office, Sun Yat-sen University said the university would open all its predominant disciplines such as clinical medicine, business administration, economics and so on to 35 Hong Kong students.
Altogether 63 universities in mainland China will recruit exam-exempted Hong Kong students. Jinan University and Huaqiao University attract most Hong Kong students since two-thirds Hong Kong students in Mainland universities are studying in these two universities. Dean of Admission Office, Jinan University Huang Quexiong said the application enrollment for exam-exempted Hong Kong students started on December 1 and the university would not limit the number for accepting excellent students.
According to the spokesperson of Ministry of Education Li Daguang, universities in Mainland planned to recruit around 2300 Hong Kong students next year.
