【Southern Metropolis Daily】63 Mainland Colleges and Universities Recruit Hong Kong Students with An Exam Exemption, Including Sun Yat-sen University, Peking University and Tsinghua University

Recently, the Ministry of Education announced that 63 Mainland universities would exempt the joint college entrance examination for Hong Kong students. Universities in Hong Kong are going to implement a four-year educational system next year. Admission policies in two universities—Jinan University and Overseas Chinese University, have changed greatly. From the two universities joint news conference yesterday, the reporters learnt that the two universities are going to launch student recommendation system for Hong Kong senior three graduate students.

17 Colleges and Universities in Guangdong are Included
To recruit Hong Kong students with an exemption is one of the policies that made by Li Keqiang, Vice Premier of the State Council, as a measure to support Hong Kong’s development. According to the policy, from 2012, with an exemption of the joint college entrance exam, a part of the universities in Mainland can recruit Hong Kong students based on their Hong Kong high school diploma exam scores.

There are going to be 63 universities in more than 11 provinces in Mainland that recruit Hong Kong students with an exemption from next year. Reporters from Southern Metropolis Dailylearnt that, these universities include Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, Wuhan University and Sun Yat-sen University, most of which are in Guangdong Province. There are 17 universities in Guangdong Province that are in the list. Apart from Sun Yat-sen University, Jinan University and Shenzhen University are also included.
