Sun Yat-sen University Alumni Association of Midwest US has been Established

On October 15th, the founding ceremony of SYSU Alumni Association of Midwest US was held in Chicago Chinatown’s Lao Beijing Restaurant. Nearly 60 alumni attended the ceremony, and witnessed this significant moment. The delegation of SYSU representatives, including Secretary Zheng Detao of University Party Committee, Deputy Secretary Li Ping, and Vice president Chen Chunsheng, participated in the founding ceremony. Chen Weijia, Counsellor of the Education Group of Chinese Consulate General in Chicago, also attended the ceremony and delivered a congratulatory speech. This meeting approved the regulations of SYSU Alumni Association of Midwest US and the list of the first committee members, with Doctor Xu Zaocheng, master graduate of neurotomy in Zhongshan School of Medcine in year 1986 now the Professor of University of Tennessee, and Dean of the Confucius Institute in Indianapolis, being the first chairman.

After singing the solemn anthem together, Xu Dongli, Secretary-general of the Alumni Association, introduced SYSU school leaders and representatives to the alumni. The alumni present gave a brief self-introduction of themselves. The mutual SYSU alumni identity drew them closer rapidly.

Secretary Zheng Detao presented SYSU’s development in recent years to the alumni, who felt deeply proud of their alma mater’s progress. Deputy Secretary Li Ping gave an introduction of SYSU Alumni Association work, read out SYSU Alumni Association Regulations, and presented the association journal, which has further enhanced the cohesion between alumni.

SYSU Alumni Association of Midwest US Regulations (draft) was read out and approved in the meeting. Recommended List of the First Council Members of SYSU Alumni Association of Midwest US was announced, Chairman Xu Zaocheng confirmed the significance of this newly-established association in his speech, expressed his commitment to the alumni association’s work, and handed out Midwest US alumni’s address book and SYSU school badge at the meantime.
