The Third International Symposium of Logic, Rationality and Interaction Was Held in Sun Yat-sen University

From Oct.10th-13th, the Third International Symposium of Logic, Rationality and Interaction (LORI3), which was hosted by the Institute of Logic and Cognition of SYSU, was held in the Liberal Arts Building in South Campus.

On the morning of Oct.10th, Prof. Chen Chunsheng, the vice president of SYSU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered an opening speech, in which he welcomed the logicians from all over the world to attend this meeting in our university. He also thanked the three conference chairmen, including Prof. Ju Shi’er, for their efforts in promoting the cooperation in logic between China and foreign countries. During the opening ceremony, Johan Van Benthem, the president of the standing committee of LORI and the academician of both European Academy of Sciences and the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences, expressed gratitude to SYSU for its consistent support for the meeting.

During the four-day meeting, more than 30 academic reports were delivered, covering several disciplines, like logic, philosophy, mathematics, computer science and linguistics etc. Experts and Scholars carried out deep discussions in the meeting, which was generally considered as an academic pageant of high quality and high level. At last, Ju Shi’er, the director of the Institute of Logic and Cognition of SYSU, gave a brief introduction of the important achievements that SYSU had achieved on Logic in recent years during the closing ceremony.

LORI is one of the top international meetings, which focuses on Logic while covers several different disciplines. The meeting was initiated jointly by the Institute of Logic and Cognition of SYSU and the Institute of Logic, Languages and Computer of the University of Amsterdam. It is held every other year.
