On the afternoon of October 13, Wen Jiabao, member of the Standing Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Premier of the State Council inspected the production-teaching-research base that Sun Yat-sen University had established in Huadu District, Guangzhou---the Huadu Research Institute of Sun Yat-sen University, in the company of Wang Yang, member of Politburo of the CPC Central Committee and Guangdong Provincial Party Secretary, and Huang Huahua, Guangdong Provincial Governor, etc.

Premier Wen Jiabao positively commented on the in-depth cooperation mechanism among universities, institutes and enterprises. Then Professor Tan Hongzhou presented to Premier Wen Jiabao various kinds of audio-electronic chips and terminal devices developed by the institute. Premier Wen tried the first domestic wireless audio system of smart phones, inquired about the functions of the system, and expressed satisfaction to the system’s performance.

After the inspection, Premier Wen Jiabao gave an important speech where he stated that the enterprises cannot survive or develop only through purchasing foreign technology and brands while international markets are changing and the pressure of cost in raw materials, labor and exchange rates is increasing. Enterprises should look for continuous improvement and master more independent intellectual property rights and core industrial technology under the guidance of the effective production-teaching-research mechanism like Huadu District—Sun Yat-sen University—Guoguang Electric Co.Ltd. He also hoped that Huadu Institute, SYSU and Guoguang Electric Co. Ltd would work with diligence and stamina, overcome all the difficulties met in their way forward and achieve major breakthroughs in industry scales and indigenous innovations for the glory of motherland.
