【Xinhua Net】Sun Yat-sen University and A French University Cooperate in Cultivating Top Talents for Civil Nuclear Industry

Xinhua Net, Guangzhou, Sep.14th With the ratification from Ministry of Education, the Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering & Technology held its official unveiling ceremony on 14th in Zhuhai Campus, under the cooperation between Sun Yat-Sen University and FINUCI. Emulating the teaching model and experience in nuclear engineering in France, the program aims at cultivating top talents for China’s nuclear engineering, who can apply their knowledge into practice.

Xu Ningsheng, the President of SYSU, spoke at the opening ceremony, “Through this cooperation in establishing the institute, we hope to fully learn from the success in engineering education in France, combining it with the tertiary education system in China, so as to explore a new way to internationalize elite education, and to form a suitable system that cultivates top talents for civil nuclear industry in China.

Alain Juppé, Minister of State and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of France, expressed in his speech that, the program combined Chinese famous university and French high-quality teaching model, as well as university and corporation. It symbolized the vitality that both France and China showed in science, technology and cooperation between universities. It also manifested the importance the two countries attached to the development of nuclear energy.

The Sino-French Institute of Nuclear Engineering & Technology has officially enrolled its first group of students in July, 2010. Now the teaching work has been carried out according to the plan. In its first round of recruitment, the institute has enrolled 99 new students. In the second round in 2011, the institute has enrolled 100 new students.
