The 13th Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America Symposium Was Held in Guangzhou

On July 25, the 13th Society of Chinese Bioscientists in America Symposium was held in Guangzhou Baiyun International Convention Center. In the five-day symposium, more than 1000 biological scientists at home and abroad are going to gather together to discuss the latest development and tasks in life science and biotechnology. The symposium contains more than 300 special reports and science reports, as well as the display of 100 academic posters. Besides, representatives from international top academic magazines, like Science, Nature and Cell, were present at the symposium.
The symposium was hosted by Society of Chinese Biosientists in America (SCBA) and undertaken by Sun Yat-sen University. This was the second time SCBA held a symposium in mainland China since the 10th symposium in Beijing 2004. The theme of the symposium is Bioscience for the 21st Century: Emerging Frontiers and Evolving Concepts.
Chen Zhu, minister of Health, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, president of the Chinese Medical Association and foreign academician of American Academy of Sciences, Jiang Guande, president of SCBA and professor of National Institutes of Health in the United States, Wang Xiaofan, designated SCBA president and professor of Duke University, Xu Ningsheng, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of Sun Yat-sen University were present at the opening ceremony. Many world renowned bioscience experts and scholars at home and abroad and students from SYSU medical school were also present. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Li Mengfeng, co-chairman of the symposium and vice-president of Sun Yat-sen University.
