【China News Net】SYSU Ex-President Huang Daren Was Awarded French Knight Medal

China News Net Guangzhou reported, On June 1, Huang Daren, ex-president of Sun Yat-Sen University, was honored with the French Knight Medal given by Bai Lin, the French Ambassador to China, which was intended to appreciate the contributions that Huang Daren has made to promoting the educational cooperation and exchange between China and France.

There have been more than 20 presidents during the 86-year history of SYSU, and Mr. Huang Daren’s presidency was the second longest. In the awarding ceremony, Huang Daren said that he decided to leave this medal to SYSU, as he believed that he should share this honor with our university.

During his presidency in SYSU, Huang Daren saw the development of France-China Institute of Nuclear Engineering and Technology (Institut Franco-Chinois de L'énergie Nucléaire), which was co-establish by our university and the French Government.

Recently, SYSU has cooperated with Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel Prize winner as well as Director of the Institute of Supermolecule Science and Engineering of France Strasbourg University, and Institute of Nanotechnology of Karlsruhe in Germany, officially launched Lehn Institute of Functional Materials, an international joint institute concerning China, France and Germany.
