Consul-General of Greek Consulate-General in Guangzhou Mr. Constantin Cakioussis visited the library of SYSU

On March 29th, the consul-general of Greek Consulate-General in Guangdong, Mr. Constantin Cakioussis, his wife and other members of his group visited the library of SYSU. The library curator Cheng Huan-Wen had a cordial talk with the guests.

Curator Cheng introduced to the guests the history and the status quo of our library, as well as the demand and the utilization of Hellenic documents by our faculty and students. Consul-general Constantin Cakioussis expressed his wish to further the cultural and academic communication and cooperation between two sides in his talk. He also thanked Curator Cheng for his great support. Agreements have been reached on issues such as the Consulate General will donate Hellenic publications to our library, our library will set up Window of Greece to collect and display Hellenic documents, our library will help National Library of Greece to set up Window of Guangdong for special collection, thus further enhancing the cultural and academic communication and cooperation between China and Greece and so on.

After the talk, consul-general Constantin Cakioussis gave Curator Cheng a present Greece, a book introducing the general knowledge of Hellenic history and culture. And then Chief librarian Cheng and other librarians showed the guests around the library.

Associate professor Lin Ying from the Department of History and the assistant of the curator Ni Li also participated in this meeting.
