【Xinhua Net】 SYSU President Xu Ningsheng: SYSU Benefited a Great Deal from the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer Project

Washington May 16, Xinhua Net reported (Journalists Ge Xiangwen and Ren Haijun), “As a participant of the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer Project, SYSU developed the thermal control system for the Silicon Strip Track Detector, and benefited a great deal from it,” Xu Ningsheng, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and president of SYSU, told the reporter of Xinhua News reporters in an exclusive interview before the launch of the magnetic spectrometer.
 
President Xu Ningsheng said that there were 23 teachers and 57 students of SYSU in total participating in this project, which promoted the establishment and development of the doctoral program in thermophysics and Energy Utilization Technology of our university. SYSU teachers and students published 23 relevant papers in total, including 4 pieces of science citation index (SCI) and 10 pieces of engineering index (EI). SYSU applied for 3 patents of invention, and 3 practical new patents have been authorized. In addition, the strategic and cooperative partnership between SYSU and the international Magnetic Spectrometer team has been consolidating, developing and deepening, top domestic and overseas physicists and space scientists come to SYSU in succession to conduct our scientific research, and some of them have become the adjunct professors of SYSU.
