On May 17th, a forum was convened in Beijing on the third batch of journals in the Ministry of Education’s Project of Famous Journals on Philosophical and Social Science in Universities and Colleges. Journal of Sun Yat-Sen University (Social Science Edition) was selected in this project. Yan Guangmei who is the vice president of SYSU, and Wu Chengxue who is the chief editor of Journal of SYSU (Social Science Edition) have attended the forum. On behalf of SYSU, Vice President Yan Guangmei introduced our proposal on the construction of the Famous Journal Project in SYSU. Vice President Yan signed jointly with the head of the Social Science Department of the Ministry of Education, Yang Guangsi, Construction of the Ministry of Education’s Project of Famous Journals on Philosophical and Social Science in Universities and Colleges Protocol .

The Famous Journal Project was an important measure adopted by the Ministry of Education so as to prosper philosophical and social science and to strengthen social science academic journals. The Project is to foster famous journals with high competiveness in the nationwide social science journal circle and to promote excellent social science research achievements which can influence the society widely. Through their demonstration effect, these famous journals can boost and drive the holistic improvement of social science journals in universities and colleges.
