Today is the 29th Teachers’ Day. SYSU held a series of activities to mark this special day. The university leaders paid a visit to teacher representatives before the Teachers’ Day.

Secretary Zheng Detao paid a visit to former university leaders Professor Li Yuesheng and Professor Zeng Hanmin, and held a meeting with former leaders and senior professors including Professor Lu Guangqi and Professor Liu Xizheng. He listened to their opinions and suggestions on university development as well as teaching and life. Secretary Zheng Detao also visited Professor Zhang Hui of Zhongshan School of Medicine, and Professor Yang Song and his research team in School of Environmental Science and Engineering. He came to the offices of five young teachers in the School of Environmental Science and Engineering and the School of Sociology and Anthropology and conveyed Teachers’ Day greetings to them.

President Xu Ningsheng paid a visit to former university leader Professor Lu Guangqi, and Academician Su Qiang of School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and expressed Teachers’ Day greetings to them.

Deputy Secretary Li Ping paid a visit to representatives of senior teachers including Professor Zeng Longmei, Professor Su Jingyu, Professor Jiang Boqin, Professor Liang Zhishun, Professor Zhang Hongda, Professsor Li Jinquan, Professor Zhang Zhanxia, Professor Kang Beisheng, Professor Luo Rucai and Professor Kong Fanjin.

Vice President Wei Minghai presided over a seminar on teachers’ professional development. The teachers made suggestions on teaching and research as well as professional development. Vice President Wei Minghai also visited the kindergarten on South Campus, the primary school and the middle school attached to Sun Yat-sen University and had discussions with the administrative leaders and teacher representatives of the schools.

This afternoon, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng had a discussion with high-level talents and representatives of young teachers in Zhongshan Building. The teachers talked about their work and life and made suggestions on how to build a word-class university. SYSU Youth Association also held an experience-sharing meeting in Swasey Hall. Deputy Secretary Li Ping and distinguished teachers shared their teaching experiences with 300 students.
