On June 6, Mr. Sun Zhigang, Vice Minister and Deputy Secretary of Party Leadership Group of the National Health and Family Planning Commission (NHFPC), and Director of the Health Reform Office of the State Council, conducted survey and research in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital, The First Affiliated Hospital and Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center. He was accompanied by Mr. Lin Shaochun, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province; Mr. Chen Yuansheng, Director of Guangdong Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission; Mr. Huang Fei, Deputy Director of Guangdong Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission; Mr. Sun Yang, Deputy Director of Department of National Drug Policy and Essential Medicine Systems, NHFPC; and Prof. Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee. The group held talks with the leadership of the three SYSU affiliated hospitals on issues such as improving medical services and management level, strengthening the public-welfare nature of public hospitals, and deepening medical and heath care system reform.

At the meeting, Vice Minister Sun Zhigang fully affirmed the achievements made by SYSU affiliated hospitals in reform and development in recent years. He said that health is crucial for the realization of the Chinese Dream. He emphasized that public hospitals should further deepen reform, improve management, use their strengths in the treatment of difficult and complicated diseases, and provide excellent medical services for the general public.
Secretary Zheng Detao said that this survey and research pointed out the direction for future development, and all SYSU affiliated hospitals would study and implement the key points of the research. He hoped that NHFPC would continue to support the healthy and rapid development of SYSU affiliated hospitals.
