On June 23, a delegation led by Prof. William I. Brustein, Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs of Ohio State University (OSU), visited SYSU. Members of the delegation also included Jian Xiaobin, Associate Professor, The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, OSU, and Ms. You Chao, Director and Chief Representative, OSU China Gateway. Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building, accompanied by Prof. Zhou Xiaobing, Dean of School of Chinese as a Second Language (SCSL); Associate Professor Zhang Shitao, Deputy Dean of SCSL; Ms. Luo Jing, Deputy Dean of SCSL; and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Vice President Zhu Xiping extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced SYSU’s recent development and international cooperation programs. Vice Provost Brustein introduced OSU’s history, campus and academic strengths. The two sides exchanged views on student exchange and joint program, and agreed to expand collaborations in public health, law and materials science.
Founded in 1870, Ohio State University is ranked No. 59 in the 2014 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. In May 2014, SCSL at SYSU and The Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures at OSU signed a cooperation agreement on summer training program for the Critical Language Scholarship Program of the U.S. Department of States and the Chinese Flagship Program of OSU; the School of Law at SYSU and Michael E. Moritz College of Law at OSU also signed an agreement on joint LLM program.
