Vice President Yan Guangmei extended a warm welcome to Deputy Vice-Chancellor Scott Sheppard. The two sides agreed that SYSU and QUT have established a good cooperation relationship and held seminars and student exchanges in public health. They hoped to conduct collaborations in environmental protection and other interdisciplinary fields. They also discussed the possibility of joint undergraduate program in nutritional sciences.
Founded in 1908, QUT combines teaching with practical application and keeps close cooperative relations with industries in Queensland. The exchanges between SYSU and QUT officially started in early 2009. The two universities signed a student exchange agreement in April 2011, and a memorandum of understanding in June 2013.
