SYSU has established Research Institute for Governance, Research Institute for Social Development and Research Institute for National Soft Power, the three think tank institutes, to conduct theoretical research and provide decision-making service to address major issues in national and social development. The newly established Research Institute of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road aims to be a leading academic research and policy consulting institute in the related fields. SYSU’s affiliated hospitals have become important medical institutions in Guangdong and even the whole country.

Nanfang Media Group has played an important role in building our university’s brand image, communicating our influence, increasing our reputation and promoting our goal of becoming a world leading academic hub in southern China. This agreement marks a new starting point of cooperation between the two sides.

In the past 65 years, Nanfang Media Group has received strong support from SYSU in both resources and talents. SYSU is also an important think tank for the reform and development of Nanfang Media Group.

Mo Gaoyi said that since last year Nanfang Media Group has outlined development strategies to face challenges of new media and increase its impact and competitiveness. He hopes that SYSU will use its strengths in humanities and social sciences, electronics and information technology, economics and management, etc to provide technical and talent support. Nanfang Media Group will use its strengths in content, brand and communication to conduct all-round cooperation with SYSU in the fields including talent cultivation, brand and publicity, academic research, social service as well as cultural inheritance and innovation.
