On July 24, Prof. Kaiming Ye, Prof. Christopher Bettinger, Prof. Ted Conway and Prof. Clayton Stewart, the four-member delegation from the National Science Foundation of the United States (USNSF), came to SYSU and held a meeting with experts and scholars in the field of bio manufacturing and stem cell research. Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, attended the meeting and gave a welcoming speech.
Vice President Zhu Xiping extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced SYSU’s research achievements. Prof. Kaiming Ye gave a brief introduction to USNSF. The two sides agreed to strengthen exchange and cooperation in bio manufacturing and stem cell research.

Then, Prof. Shuai Xintao from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Prof. Zhu Qingtang from The First Affiliated Hospital, Prof. Gao Qianying from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center, Associate Professor Yi Changqing from School of Engineering and Prof. Zhang Qi from The Third Affiliated Hospital respectively introduced their research progress to the guests. The two sides discussed issues such as the difficulties in research and funds. SYSU attendees also included Prof. Chen Yongming from School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Ms. Gu Wenli, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange; Ms. Zhu Changping, Deputy Director of Office of Medical Sciences; and Ms. Huang Yelin, Deputy Director of Office of Science Research and Development.
After the meeting, the delegation also visited SYSU's Stem Cell Center and the GMP Center of The Third Affiliated Hospital of SYSU.
