In the afternoon on November 21, a 7-member delegation led by Prof. Leonard K Cheng, President of Lingnan University, visited SYSU. Prof. Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus. Heads of relevant functional departments and schools of SYSU were also present at the meeting.

Prof. Zheng Detao extended a warm welcome to Prof. Leonard K Cheng. He pointed out that Sun Yat-sen University and Lingnan University in Hong Kong have historical links and close relations, and hoped that through this meeting the two universities would deepen friendship and promote strategic cooperation.
Prof. Leonard K Cheng thanked Prof. Zheng Detao for the warm reception. He hoped to explore opportunities of cooperation through this visit and increase exchanges and collaborations between the two universities.
The participants held a discussion on establishing closer cooperative relations through research cooperation, co-organizing academic conferences, inviting professors to give short-term courses, as well as faculty and student exchange programs.
After the meeting, the delegation visited SYSU Library and Former Residence of Mr. Chen Yinque. They also went to Liberal Arts College and disscussed with the faculty members on cooperation in liberal arts education.
