On the morning of December 12, 2014, a 4-member delegation led by Dr. William I. Brustein, Vice Provost for Global Strategies and International Affairs of Ohio State University (OSU), visited SYSU. Members of the delegation also included Mr. Alan Michaels, Dean of College of Law, OSU; Mrs. Laura Fernandez, Assistant Dean for International and Graduate Affairs, College of Law, OSU; and Ms. Phoebe You, Director of China Gateway, OSU. Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests, accompanied by Ms. Huang Ruimin, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, SYSU.

Prof. Zhu Xiping welcomed the guests. He said that SYSU would deepen cooperation and exchange with OSU on the basis of existing collaborations. Dr. Brustein was glad to visit SYSU again, and hoped to promote cooperation in the field of law. The two sides discussed possibilities of collaboration in cancer research, mathematics and data analysis.
The OSU delegation visited the School of Law of SYSU, and had a meeting with Prof. Li Zhiping, Associate Dean of School of Law, and Prof. Zhang Liang, Assistant Dean of School of Law. Dean Michaels gave a lecture entitled “Survey of the most important decisions from the US Supreme Court in the last year” to students of School of Law on East Campus of SYSU.
Founded in 1870, The Ohio State University is ranked No. 59 in the 2014 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, and No. 34 in U.S. NEWS Best Global Universities Rankings. In June 2014, OSU Vice Provost William I. Brustein led a delegation to visit SYSU.
