On the afternoon of January 8, Mr. Zhu Xiaodan, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, met with the delegation led by Dr. Subra Suresh, President of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), accompanied by Mr. Chen Yunxian, Vice Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province, and Prof. Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee.

Governor Zhu Xiaodan pointed out that Guangdong attaches great importance to cooperation with world-class universities such as CMU. Substantial results have been achieved since SYSU and CMU started to establish joint programs in 2011. The work of jointly establishing Guangdong Center for Integrated Circuit R&D and Incubation by People’s Government of Foshan Municipality, People’s Government of Shunde District, Guangdong Science and Technology Department, SYSU and CMU is in smooth progress. He hoped that President Subra Suresh’s visit would advance the cooperation between Guangdong and CMU, and promote Guangdong’s higher education, scientific research, transformation and application of research achievements, and especially the talent training and R&D of integrated circuits. Guangdong provincial government will provide high quality service for the collaboration projects with CMU.
Before the meeting, Prof. Zheng Detao met with Dr. Subra Suresh. Prof. Zheng Detao said that SYSU will further promote the joint programs with CMU. He believed that, with the strong support of Guangdong provincial government and Foshan municipal government, and with the joint efforts of SYSU and CMU, the collaborations between the two universities will have a bright future. Dr. Subra Suresh said that CMU will continue to enhance cooperation with SYSU.
