On the morning of January 9, Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and People’s Government of Shunde District held the Signing Ceremony of SYSU-Shunde Development Fund in Shunde.

The attendees included Dr. Nathan Urban, Interim Provost of Carnegie Mellon University (CMU); Dr. James Garrett, Dean of College of Engineering of CMU; Mr. Huang Xizhong, Chief Executive of the People’s Government of Shunde District; Mr. Xu Guoyuan, Committee Member of Shunde Government Affairs; Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU; Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU; Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU; Prof. Li Wenjun, Assistant President of SYSU and Co-Director of SYSU-CMU Joint Institute of Engineering (JIE); Prof. Ling Wenhua, Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU; Ms. Li Hanrong, Director of Education Development & Alumni Affairs Office and Secretary-General of SYSU Education Development Foundation; Prof. Tan Hongzhou, Co-Director of SYSU-CMU Shunde International Joint Research Institute (JRI).

In order to promote SYSU’s development and Shunde’s industrial upgrading, and support talent training, scientific innovation and industry-university cooperation, the People’s Government of Shunde District donates 20 million yuan to establish the SYSU-Shunde Development Fund to support the joint projects of SYSU and Shunde.

At the ceremony, Ms. Li Hanrong and Mr. Xu Guoyuan signed the donation agreement on behalf of the two sides respectively.

Mr. Huang Xizhong presented the donation check to Prof. Chen Chunsheng, and then Prof. Chen Chunsheng presented the donation acknowledgement to Mr. Huang Xizhong.
