On January 28-30, Prof. Luo Jun, President of Sun Yat-sen University, conducted survey and research in East Campus, Zhuhai Campus, North Campus and the affiliated hospitals of SYSU.
In his inspection tour of East Campus, Zhuhai Campus and North Campus, Prof. Luo Jun had a meeting respectively with members of East Campus Administration, Zhuhai Campus Administration, as well as Faculty of Medical Sciences, Office of Medical Science, Dean’s Office of Medical Education and Bureau of Affiliated Hospitals Administration. He listened to the reports on campus construction, and hoped that the campuses would make plans and promote the development of the university.
Prof. Luo Jun visiting National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou on East Campus
On East Campus, Prof. Luo Jun visited East Campus Library, National Supercomputer Center in Guangzhou, and State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies. He encouraged the supercomputer center to build Tianhe-2 into a major research infrastructure to serve national strategic needs. He said that the university will develop computer sciences and support the sustainable development of the supercomputer center.

On Zhuhai Campus, Prof. Luo Jun pointed out that the university would stick to the promise to build Zhuhai Campus into an integral part of SYSU. The university culture is the same on each campus; while each campus has its different characteristics in orientation and disciplinary layout. The university’s culture and history should be integrated and inherited into the construction of Zhuhai Campus. The buildings and their styles should stand the test of history and time.

On North Campus, Prof. Luo Jun visited the graduate student dormitories. He asked relevant departments to file the application for new student dormitory building to solve the shortage of student dormitories and provide good living environment for the students.

In the affiliated hospitals, Prof. Luo Jun visited the wards and labs. He affirmed the contributions made by the affiliated hospitals to the development of the university. He said that the hospitals should focus on the construction of national level research platforms, the cultivation of big research teams and the introduction of leading talents, improve competitiveness to become top hospitals in the nation and the world, and contribute to achieving our goal of becoming a world-class university.
