Sun Yat-sen University and Lingnan University signed comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement

In order to strengthen cooperation and exchange between Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) and Lingnan University, Prof. Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, led a group to visit Lingnan University in Hong Kong on January 28, 2015. Prof. Zheng Detao met with Prof. Leonard K Cheng, President of Lingnan University. The two universities signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement. Prof. Shalendra D. Sharma, Acting Vice President of Lingnan University; Prof. Stephen C.K. Chan, Associate Vice President (Academic Affairs) and Registrar of Lingnan University; Prof. Lau Yin-ping Grace, Associate Vice President (Student Affairs) of Lingnan University; and Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, attended the event.

Prof. Leonard K Cheng extended a warm welcome to the SYSU delegation. He said that Lingnan University attached great importance to the cooperative relationship with SYSU, and he believed that the signing of the framework agreement would further consolidate and deepen the collaborations between the two universities.

Prof. Zheng Detao pointed out that SYSU and Lingnan University have profound historical links and natural advantages in cooperation, and the signing of the framework agreement meant a “win-win” for both universities. He hoped that the two universities would take this opportunity to expand fields of cooperation and achieve fruitful collaborations.

Then, Prof. Leonard K Cheng and Prof. Zheng Detao signed the comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement on behalf of Lingnan University and Sun Yat-sen University respectively.

After the signing ceremony, representatives of Student Affairs Office, SYSU Youth Association, Department of History, Department of Philosophy, School of Sociology and Anthropology, Liberal Arts College, Lingnan (University) College and School of Government of Sun Yat-sen University respectively had a meeting with representatives of corresponding units and faculties of Lingnan University to discuss the details of the projects of exchange and cooperation.
